
ABOUT CCS NIAM
Ch. Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS NIAM) is a premier National level Institute set up by the Government of India in August, 1988 to offer specialized training, research, education and consultancy in the field of Agricultural Marketing. CCS NIAM is playing a vital role in expediting the reform process and availability of quality managers through its mandate. CCS NIAM is engaged in organizing training programmes in the field of agricultural marketing and allied areas for senior and middle-level officers from various line departments of State Governments, Cooperatives, Marketing Boards and Agribusiness Entrepreneurs. The institute is also playing an active role in orienting agricultural extension personnel towards agricultural marketing.

- To build marketing systems to enable primary producers, particularly small and marginal farmers to enhance their net income.
- To contribute to agri-business market development and management knowledge and practice through cutting edge applied research and its dissemination.
- To facilitate efficient, sustainable and inclusive agro value chains.
- To facilitate formulation and modification of public policy on agricultural marketing through action oriented, applied research and consultancy.
- To nurture innovative agri-prenuers and professionals to manage emerging agri-business concerns.
- To enhance international co-operation in agriculture marketing for global food security and sustainable agriculture.


Area Focus
In tune with its mandate, the Institute has organized a number of training programmes on functional areas of agricultural marketing. The focus areas of the Institute are emerging issues in agricultural marketing which is addressed through training, research, consultancy, policy advise, and education
Objectives
- To conduct research on long term projects, policy formulation, prepare status papers, conduct case studies in specific to marketing problems.
- To impart training to various levels of personnel of organizations involved in agricultural marketing activities such as State agricultural marketing board(SAMB), Co-operative marketing, Commodity Boards, Input agencies, progressive farmers, traders, entrepreneurs. To help them develop bankable projects for creation of market infrastructure& integrated value chain
- To offer consultancy services to state and Central Departments, public-sector undertaking, co-operative etc in preparation of Master plans for States
- To develop promising human resources by providing long term structured courses in agricultural marketing
- To cover a wide information network in the country in agricultural marketing to evolve efficient, innovative and competitive marketing process
- To develop as a centre for excellence in the filed of agricultural marketing by establishing adequate.

Executive Committee
There shall be an Executive Committee of the Society. The Executive Committee shall have 7 members, nominated by the President from amongst the members of the General Body. - About the NIAM :-
- 1.1 The CCS National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM) is the premier National level Institute in the field of agricultural marketing set up by the Government of India in August 1988.
- 1.2 The Institute is an autonomous body operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The Union Minister for Agriculture is the president of the General Body of NIAM and the Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is the Chairman of the Executive Committee.
- Vision :-To be an Institute of excellence and repository of knowledge, to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural marketing systems which are inclusive and empower the primary producer, by building capacity of various stakeholders through teaching, training, applied research, policy advocacy, and consultancy services.
- Mission:-
