CITIZEN’S
CHARTER |

This institute
strives to become a centre of excellence to study and provide
advice to public and private sector institutions, cooperatives
and individuals in India as well as internationally on policy
issues, trading and marketing strategies, consultancy, research
and education in agricultural marketing of the highest quality. |

Objectives:
|
|
|
The objective of the institute
is to build capacity of all the functionaries in agricultural
marketing so as to eventually help millions of farmers as follows. |
 |
To undertake applied and operational
research in functional areas of agricultural marketing. |
 |
To provide specialized
training in agricultural marketing designed to develop leadership
potential in the management of agricultural marketing enterprises
and services. |
 |
To undertake appraisal of markets/marketing
projects for approval and financial support by the Central Govt.,
on consultancy basis. |
 |
To provide practical guidance
of policy formulation on the implication of prices, subsidy,
supply, quality control and other incentive programmes. |
 |
To accord research priority to the marketing
of new export crops such as flowers, ornamental plants and medicinal
plants. |
 |
To collaborate with other
agencies interested in export marketing development and seeking
to contribute primarily through improving physical and institutional
infrastructure for export from the producing areas to the point
of exportation. |
 |
To undertake economic and technical feasibility
studies and cost benefit analysis in respect of investments
made in developing processing, storage and transportation facilities
for different agricultural products. |
 |
To assist in the growth
of infrastructure for the development of information system. |

Goals |

NIAM’s goal is to
become leader in creating, transmitting and applying, knowledge
to improve agricultural marketing in particular to improve the
socio economic quality of the people in India and around the
world, in general. |
|

Organizational Structure |
| |
The Institute’s
affairs are looked after by its general body headed by the Union
Minister of Agriculture as its President and Union Minister
for State for Agriculture as Vice President. In order to advice
on regular functions of the Institute, there is a Executive
Committee which is chaired by the Secretary Agriculture &
Cooperation, Govt. of India. The head quarter of the Institute
is in Jaipur. The Director General, NIAM is Chief Executive
of the Institute and supported by a team of Technical Officers. |

Grievances Mechanism and
Time Frame for Disposal |

The Institute is dedicated
to inculcate a culture of honesty, integrity and earnest working
system among students, trainees and other stakeholders. This
Institute is highly concerned to redress grievances of one and
all in a responsible, timely and effective manner. The Director
General functions as Chief Executive for the purpose of public
grievances. On every working day between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
the public can meet the Director General with regard to their
grievances and complaints. E-mail address of the Director General

The
reply shall be sent to the concerned with in a fortnight while
it would be endeavour of the Institute to settle the case
within 3 months. The Institute would request the stakeholders
to provide full and complete information of the grievances
in order to enable efficient disposal. Further, this Citizen’s
Charter shall be reviewed from time to time for improving
our service to the public.
